Windermere Prep has announced offensive and defensive line coach James Hamilton has been promoted to head football coach. He served in his assistant role for the past three seasons.
"We are delighted to introduce James Hamilton as the head coach of our football program," said Windermere Prep director of athletics Patrick Hollern in a press release.
"Coach Hamilton's elevation to head football coach is a reflection of his unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and relentless commitment to the development of our student-athletes. With his deep passion for the game and his ability to inspire others, Coach embodies the essence of UNITAS."
Hamilton replaces former Windermere Prep football coach Brian Simmons, a 10-year NFL veteran and eight-year NFL scout, who left the program earlier this year to take a role at his alma mater, North Carolina, as a senior advisor to coach Mack Brown.
Hamilton was a standout football player for USF from 2012-15. He went on to begin his coaching career as a defensive line coach at Colonial High, then at Olympia High in the same role.
Hamilton also serves as a lower school physical education teacher at Windermere Prep and is the Lakers' softball coach.
