Relay for Life of Lake Buena Vista made its triumphant return from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Reedy Creek Fire Station 4.
The event stands as one of only two Relay for Life events in Central Florida. The event began with a Survivors Lap and continued for eight hours — all with a goal of raising money for the American Cancer Society. After dark, the event concluded with the always-emotional luminaria ceremony, during which small bags were lit with battery-operated candles in remembrance of lives lost to cancer.
Since the Lake Buena Vista Relay’s inception, more than $1 million has been raised on the Reedy Creek track, said Relay co-lead Yamile Rivera.
