The town of Windermere has shared some updates following Tropical Storm Debby.

Due to the recent heavy storms, some areas in the town are experiencing standing water and washouts.

East Fifth Avenue and Magnolia Street, as well as East Eighth Avenue and Bessie Street at the curve, are closed.

Barricades are in place to indicate washouts or water on the sides of the roads at Main Street near Lake Butler Boulevard, as well as at East Seventh Avenue and Magnolia Street.

Windermere's Public Works team is actively clearing drains throughout the town, and systems are beginning to clear. Once the roads dry out, the team will start regrading them.

"Thank you for your patience as we work to repair and clear the system," town representatives said in a news alert Monday, Aug. 5. "Stay safe, Windermere!"
