The First Academy football’s Devin Jackson has announced his college commitment to the University of Florida. The three-star defensive back selected the Gators over the six other schools he was considering: Georgia, LSU, Maryland, Missouri, Texas A&M and UCF.

Jackson, who is a junior who recently transferred from West Orange High, announced via a post on his X account.

“I think he has all of the attributes that you want from a defensive back,” TFA coach Jeff Conaway said. “He's got length, he's got the ability to run, he's very intelligent, he can be extremely physical, and in our defense, the way that coach (Jacob) Gill and his staff operate, having a safety that fits that mold and checks all those boxes, makes us extremely versatile."

Jackson's combination of athleticism, size and work ethic make him poised to have a long playing career ahead of him.

"He's going to do a lot of really good things for us, but he's also going to have a lucrative collegiate career because he's very gifted and he's willing to work," Conaway said. "He is a yes sir, no sir kind of kid who doesn't say a whole lot. He just comes to work and we've been very pleased with how he's handled everything so far.”
