Pedestrian killed in Colonial Drive crash

Florida Highway Patrol investigators are searching for the driver, who fled the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators are searching for the driver who killed a pedestrian Aug. 18 on Colonial Drive east of Good Homes Road.

According to FHP reports, at about 10:34 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, the driver of a 2015-2017 BMW 3 Series (either a 320i, 320i X, 328d, or 328d X) who struck and killed a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and in the direct path of the vehicle. The driver of the BMW fled the scene. The pedestrian, a 37-year-old female from Pine Hills, was transported to Orlando Health — Health Central Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

FHP investigators located part of the suspect vehicle at the scene. The vehicle should have damage to the front left fog light and/or front left headlight. 

The crash closed all eastbound lanes and the two westbound left-turn lanes on Colonial Drive.  

Leaving the scene of a crash that results in property damage, injury or death is against the law.
