Teen dies following incident on Avalon Road

An 18-year-old died following a self-inflicted gunshot wound while driving.

An 18-year-old is dead following a self-inflicted gunshot wound while operating a vehicle.

The Winter Garden Police Department said the incident took place around 1:50 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, at Avalon Road and Johns Lake Pointe Boulevard.

The young man was alive when emergency personnel arrived on scene, but has since died from the gunshot wound.

The Orange Observer is choosing to withhold the victim's name due to the nature of the incident.
