Here's a roundup of Week Two's action from around West Orange and Southwest Orange County. Starting off with the Orange Observer Game of the Week: The Ocoee Knights hosting the Olympia Titans.

Game of the Week: Olympia (1-0) at Ocoee (0-1)

The Titans and Knights started off the season in opposite directions, Olympia High with not too many expectations — given the losses on its roster — but with a convincing win at Horizon High, 14-0. While the Knights came in with a lot of expectations, but a disappointing 10-0 loss at neighbors Apopka High.

Despite the win and loss, there's still a lot to learn about these two area teams and this Week 2 matchup should teach us a ton about either side.

For Ocoee, look for its stars to make their presence known — LB Michael McClenton started off his junior campaign on fire, as did do-it-all athlete Joshua Guerrier. Beyond the stars keep an eye out for Knights quarterback Onrique Archie and his development in his second start as a sophomore.

The Titans athletes are were you should be looking on the other side of the field. Eric Weems Jr., Ja'Cari Jackson and Raymond Green all had good outings for Olympia last week.

Week Two

FRIDAY, AUG. 30

All games start at 7 p.m.

CFCA (0-0) vs. The Out-of-Door Academy (2-0)

The Eagles are one of the few area teams that actually got on the field in Week 1, despite shortly after getting pushed off because of weather.

Dr. Phillips (0-0) at University (0-1)

The Panthers' offense looks to be the driving force behind the 2024 team, with a balanced attack on the ground and in the air.

The First Academy (1-0) at Edgewater (0-0)

After heading to Nashville, Tennessee and getting its first win of the season, the road gets even tougher — even though the trip to College Park is much shorter. Edgewater will be a big measuring stick for the Royals and should help tell you just how this TFA team is right now.

Foundation Academy (0-1) vs. Lake Highland Prep (0-1)

The young Lions will look to take what they learned in a Week 0 loss to defending state champions The Master's Academy and use it to grow on the field in their home opener against Lake Highland Prep.

Horizon (0-1) vs. Lake Nona (0-0)

After falling to Olympia in Week 1, the Hawks will face another Class 7A foe in Lake Nona High. Coach Dennis Thomas and his team will try to continue to establish the run with Kaio Oliveria leading the way, while star back Jamarie Pierre recovers from an injury.

Lake Buena Vista (0-0) at Colonial (0-1)

Following a historic season under coach Brant Peddy, the Vipers will kick off 2024 focused on toughness and fundamentals as they travel to Colonial High this week.

Legacy Charter (0-2) at Faith Christian (0-2)

Despite a second loss last week to Jordan Christian Prep, the Eagles bounced back well from a 32-0 loss in Week 0. Look for its defensive front — specifically Ryan Rushing and Jake Threadgill — to cause problems against Faith Christian this week.

West Orange (0-0) vs. Wekiva (0-0)

The Warriors will start the 2024 season with a big-time matchup against the Mustangs of Wekiva High. Expect West Orange High to run the ball and play tough defense — and with the help of its killer home crowd, it will be a great game to attend.

Windermere (1-0) at Cypress Creek (0-0)

Including the kickoff classic, this will be Windermere High's third consecutive road game against another independent squad in Cypress Creek High. Keep an eye out on senior transfer QB Jack Reilly, following his three-touchdown outing in Week 1, he seems primed for another successful road game.

Windermere Prep (0-0) at Glades Day (1-0) (starts at 6 p.m.)

Thanks to its earlier kickoff, the Lakers were able to get their game started in Week 1 of the season — even getting a score — but like most of the other area games, the severe weather halted any gridiron excitement. Week 2 will see Windermere Prep head to Belle Glade to try and add to the good it saw on the field last week.
