The First Academy football’s Danny Odem III, a three-star prospect, announced on his social media pages that he has de-committed from North Carolina, writing in a post that his recruitment is “100% open.”

A 6-foot-1 defensive back, Odem III originally chose the Tar Heels in September over the likes of UCF, Ole Miss and Liberty.

The decision to step back from his original decision to play college ball in Chapel Hill comes after UNC fired national championship-winning coach Mack Brown — who had a 113-79-1 record across his six seasons in his second tenure as the Tar Heels coach.

Since Odem III announced his commitment to UNC, he received offers from Florida, Miami, Penn State, West Virginia and Syracuse.
