Russell Hunt, Legacy High’s athletic director and girls basketball coach, has announced that he will step down from his roles.

His last day as AD will be Jan. 6, 2025, but he will remain coach until the end of the season.

“It has been an incredible honor to serve the Hope and Legacy community for the last 12 years in different capacities,” Hunt said. “Additionally, it has been such a rewarding experience to work alongside these coaches, athletes and athletic staff as the Athletic Director over the last four years. The experiences and relationships I’ve built here will stay with me and I am forever grateful for it all.”

Hunt is leaving the school to become the Regional Manager of Community Relations at Lake County-based Step Up for Students, a nonprofit scholarship-funding organization that helps administer scholarships for Florida schoolchildren.
