The Ocoee Police Department hosted its annual Night of Excellence awards and recognition ceremony Friday, Feb. 2, at HighPoint Church.
This year's event yielded about 150 attendees, including Ocoee PD officers and retirees, friends, and family members.
Several city of Ocoee elected officials also were in attendance, including Assistant City Manager Craig Shadrix and commissioners Ages Hart, Rosemary Wilsen, Scott Kennedy and Richard Firstner.
Chaplain Keith Tower served as the master of ceremonies and the Ocoee PD Honor Guard presented the colors before officer Duane Hunt sang the national anthem. Robert Young served as the invocation chaplain and Acting Chief Vincent L. Ogburn gave the opening remarks.
Tower and Obgurn helped present the awards and recognitions.
Recognitions included new hires, years of service anniversaries, promotions and retirees.
The following special awards were given: Community Partners of the Year, Haylen Casey; Business Partner of the Year, DBA McDonald's and Texas Roadhouse; Volunteer of the Year, HighPoint Church; Civilian of the Year, Pin Pananont; and Officer of the Year, Detective Fabiola Talley.
The event concluded with closing remarks made by Deputy Chief Chris McKinstry and a benediction by Young.
