Eight Waves is asking the community to help provide support through the nonprofit's van recovery fund.

We first told you about how the Eight Waves van was broken into and stolen in the early hours of Christmas morning, here.

After countless hours and help from the Winter Garden Police Department, the van was recovered a few days later.

However, the van was completely stripped and destroyed, leaving Eight Waves with an overwhelming amount of tasks and a long list of expenses to incur.

Eight Waves, a nonprofit organization run out of the West Orange Dream Center in Winter Garden, runs a free after school reading intervention and mentoring program. The van is a lifeline for vulnerable children seeking educational assistance.

Eight Waves has started a GoFundMe for the community to help the nonprofit overcome the setback so the organization can continue providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.

"Your contribution will not only replace the van but also restore hope and opportunity for those who need it most," Eight Waves representatives wrote on the GoFundMe. "Every donation counts, and together, we can ensure that no child is left behind on their educational journey."

As of Monday, Jan. 8, the Go FundMe already has raised over $4,000.
