Residents had the opportunity to select from an expansive menu that includes trees such as Bald Cypress, Longleaf Pine, Live Oak, Turkey Fig, Purple Tabebuia and Saw Palmetto.

In addition to the tree giveaway, the Windermere Garden Club held a ceremony and tree planting to celebrate Arbor Day Thursday Jan. 18, at Town Square.

"These events and a dedication to maintain and improve our urban forest have earned the town of Windermere the designation of 'Tree City' by the Arbor Day Foundation’s Florida Urban Forestry Council continuously for over 25 years," Franks Krens, Windermere Tree Board chair, said.
