Scott Grove, the former baseball coach at The First Academy, has been named the next baseball coach at Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia.

Following his exit from coaching at TFA, Grove told the Orange Observer that it would have needed to be the perfect fit for him to return to coaching. Today, he says Coffee High is that perfect fit — citing the administration, the area's involvement in high school sports and the facilities.

"My wife, Shayne and I are super excited about Coffee High School," said Grove. "I wanted my next stop to be the perfect fit. I love the small-town feel (of Douglas) and how the community is so involved in high school sports. The county only has one high school. The superintendent, principal and athletic director are all former coaches and the support of athletics is awesome. I can’t wait to help Coffee High School be a national and state champion. The baseball facility is like a D-I college baseball facility. It has indoor batting cages, (an) indoor weight room connected to the cages and a college-level clubhouse with coaches' offices."

Grove coached at TFA from 2013-24, where he won a state championship in 2021, a national championship in 2014, two regional championships — five overall in his career — and was named the American Baseball Coaches Association's National Coach of the Year in 2021.

Before his time with the Royals, he had various stops at two other Central Florida schools: Colonial High from 1997-2001 and Timber Creek High from 2001-13. He currently holds an overall coaching record of 555-191 (74% winning percentage).

Despite the almost four-hour move up I-75, Grove will still have plenty of ties to the area with his son Dakoda Grove serving as the baseball coach, sports information director and assistant athletics director for Foundation Academy and not to mention his family's ranch in Clermont.

When asked about bringing his new team to compete in the Central Florida area, host an area team in Georgia, or even renewing the family rivalry against his son at Foundation, Grove was excited about the idea.

"I think it would be fun to host any of the Central Florida high school baseball teams," he said.

In a post to his X account, Dakoda Grove said he is excited to start a Florida vs. Georgia rivalry with his father.
