Ocoee PD identify body found at Starke Lake

The 31-year-old male victim has been identified as Terry DeWayne Werst.

The Ocoee Police Department has identified the body found Friday, July 19, at Starke Lake in the city of Ocoee.

The 31-year-old male victim has been identified as Terry DeWayne Werst.

In an update from the Ocoee PD Thursday, July 25, officers said the individual's next of kin have been notified, and there are no signs of foul play.

According to a press release from the department, officers responded to the area around 11 a.m. July 19, following a call from an individual who found a man along the shore not breathing.

Emergency crews determined the man had died, likely from drowning. 

Police state they were previously called to the area Wednesday, July 17, after a woman said she saw a man in distress in the water. However, after an extensive search, the man was not found.

"The Ocoee Police Department expresses our deepest condolences to the family of the man who died," the department said in the press release. "We will release more information as it becomes available."
