Horizon High announces new assistant principal, additional staff members

Travis Bryant will serve as the new assistant principal, while Christiane Lynch will be the new director of choral activities and Kate Goodin will be the new orchestra director.

Horizon High School has announced the hiring of a new assistant principal, as well as a few other additional staff members.

Travis Bryant will serve as the new assistant principal, while Christiane Lynch will be the new director of choral activities and Kate Goodin will be the new orchestra director.

Originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina, Bryant moved to Orlando nine years ago.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2005.

In 2006, he started teaching physical education at Belleview Elementary School in South Carolina. In 2011, he graduated with a master's degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. He then began teaching as a part-time adjunct lecturer at Winthrop University in 2012.

He has held various leadership roles in the education sector throughout his career. He taught physical education at Ivey Lane and Millennia Gardens elementary schools and then served as the administrative dean at Millennia Gardens for four years. 

After that, he transitioned to an assistant principal position at Lake Nona High School, overseeing the Exceptional Student Education, Career & Technical Education, 504 and physical education departments.

Bryant is eagerly looking forward to becoming a part of the Horizon High community.

"I am thrilled about joining the Horizon High School community and the new experiences that await," he said. "My wife and I are equally excited about the move and the opportunity to start a family in the area. We are expecting a baby girl in October, which will be an additional joy in our lives."

Originally from New Jersey, Lynch has dedicated 15 years of her life to teaching middle school chorus, fostering a love for music among her students. 

For the last eight years, she has been an integral part of Bridgewater Middle School, where she has cultivated meaningful relationships and inspired her students to create beautiful music.

She holds a bachelor's degree in music education, with a double concentration in harp and voice, from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. 

Her passion for education is matched by her commitment to her community. Believing that every voice is essential to creating a harmonious environment in choir, she emphasizes the importance of each student's contribution.

Lynch resides in Winter Garden with her husband, two children and retired greyhounds.

She is looking forward to advancing the strong traditions and choral artistry at Horizon High School and is excited to join the Hawk family.

KATE GOODIN

Goodin is an Orange County Public Schools graduate. 

She earned her degree from Stetson University and has continued to be involved as a violinist and private teacher.

She has taught at University High School and Galaxy Middle School in Volusia County.

She will be joining the Hawks as the new orchestra director, as well as the new teacher for guitar and AP Music Theory.

She is enthusiastic about returning to Orlando to work with the dedicated students and performing arts team at Horizon High.
