Jarod Fox, chair of Orlando Health’s Infectious Disease department and the infectious diseases director at the Health Central and Horizon West hospitals, has been named a fellow by the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
The recognition is one of the highest honors in the field of infectious diseases.
Fox joins four other Orlando Health Medical Group doctors — Edgar Sanchez, Patricia Couto, Aixa Curbelo-Irizarry and Antonio Crespo — to be recognized among distinguished physicians and scientists from the United States and around the world who have achieved professional excellence and provided significant service to the profession.
“Dr. Fox has evolved into an excellent physician and teacher, who is also a great leader and currently our group’s director at Orlando Health - Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital,” Crespo, managing physician for Orlando Health Medical Group Infectious Diseases, said. “He is straightforward, sharp on his assessments and is always willing to go the extra mile when required. We are very fortunate to have Dr. Fox on our team.”
Fox trained in Orlando Health’s infectious diseases fellowship program and then joined Orlando Health Medical Group.
He earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada. He completed his residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia.
Fox is one of 128 IDSA fellows chosen in 2024 who were nominated by their peers. They met specified criteria that included continuing identification with the field of infectious diseases and national or regional recognition and publication of their scholarly work.
