Four Winter Garden Squeeze players were selected to represent the team at the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball Prospect Showcase in Lynchburg, Virginia from June 24 to 26.
The four players selected were: Outfielder Garrett Byrd, from Valdosta State; pitcher Mark Chapa, from Texas A&M International; infielder Ben Maskin, from Erskine College; and catcher Mees Robberse, from Allen County Community College.
Of the four, Byrd has been the standout player through the first half of the Squeeze’s season. In 15 appearances, he has hit for an average of .410 (16/39), scored nine runs, drove in five runs, hit one home run, stole seven bases and was walked 10 times.
