Four Winter Garden Squeeze players selected for national prospect showcase

Garrett Byrd, Mark Chapa, Ben Maskin and Mees Robberse have been selected to represent the Squeeze at the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball Prospect Showcase in Virginia.

Four Winter Garden Squeeze players were selected to represent the team at the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball Prospect Showcase in Lynchburg, Virginia from June 24 to 26. 

The four players selected were: Outfielder Garrett Byrd, from Valdosta State; pitcher Mark Chapa, from Texas A&M International; infielder Ben Maskin, from Erskine College; and catcher Mees Robberse, from Allen County Community College. 

Of the four, Byrd has been the standout player through the first half of the Squeeze’s season. In 15 appearances, he has hit for an average of .410 (16/39), scored nine runs, drove in five runs, hit one home run, stole seven bases and was walked 10 times. 

The Florida League will take a break until the conclusion of the NACSB Prospect Showcase and the Squeeze will pick their schedules back up on Thursday, June 27 at home for the start of a three-game, home-away-home series against the Orlando Snappers.
