The annual Orlando Area Rowing Society Invitational Regatta, one of the premier competitive rowing events on the southeastern rowing calendar, is set to return to Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake on March 9th and 10th.

Because of the elite competition and amazing venue, the OARS Invitational has drawn over 2,000 competitors from around Florida and its neighboring states each year.

With two days of high-intensity rowing, the 2024 edition of the invitational will feature a 1500-meter course on the beautiful Turkey Lake with one race following the other every seven minutes. The constant action from some of the southeast’s top rowers and teams promises two days of action for rowing fans.

“This event is a celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and the spirit of competition," said Kirsten Anderson, OARS’ coach and director of rowing. "We're proud to host rowers of all levels, from novice to elite as well as middle school and masters providing them with a platform to showcase their skills."

Along with the fun from the regatta’s races, fans will also be able to take advantage of surrounding outdoor recreation activities and relaxation offered at the park.

The regatta was originally formed in 1989, to bring the benefits of rowing to everyone in Central Florida. OARS is a not-for-profit, completely volunteer-run organization that has been dedicated to developing excellence in rowing. In pursuit of this goal, the program promotes the values of high-character individuals like integrity, personal growth and discipline, as well as a healthy competitive spirit that encourages student-athletes to succeed both individually and as a team.
