West Orange Habitat holds annual Women Build

Nearly 200 women laid sod, hammered, sawed and painted during West Orange Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build 2024 Saturday, May 4. Donors raised $118,926.

Three homes are being built in east Winter Garden for three single mothers on a quest for first-time homeownership. The future homeowners have completed their financial literacy classes and 200 sweat equity hours, are saving for a down payment and will close soon.

The top fundraising teams were SuperFN Funtastic, $15,450; SBM Bean Counters, $6,950; AdventHealthLeadHERship, $5,500; Studfinders, $5,450; Paige’s Dream Team, $5,315; Acousti’s Drywall Darlings, $5,025; Hit Me with Your Best Shot, $4,900; Barsh’s Badass Bangers, $4,750; Real Housewives of Oakland Park, $4,200; and Pepsi – Team Pepsi, $3,975.

The top individual fundraisers were Carol Kennedy, $5,600; Cyndi Gustafson, $4,875; Paige Winkler, $3,800; Patti Brankert, $3,750; Jo Barsh, $3,350; Dawn Boyd, $3,100; Ellen Chamberlin, $2,200; Shannon Till, $2,000; Kate Ionelli, $1,700; and Tracey McFadden-Morrisey, $1,200.
