Attendees wrote short notes on the packaging of Rice Krispies to add to the care packages.

Local active-duty service member Charles W. Martini was able to attend the ceremony.
Windermere resident Bob McKinley shared a few words about his two grandchildren in the military: Andrew and Christopher McKinley.
Windermere resident Gregg Anderson spoke about his son, Calvin, who is an active-duty service member.
Windermere Rotary member Frank Krens informed attendees of the town’s upcoming Memorial Day ceremony.
Attendees were treated to a heartwarming slideshow presentation with photos and videos from the honored service members.

Windermere’s Armed Forces Day ceremony garnered much town support.
The town of Windermere hosted its third annual Armed Forces Day ceremony Saturday, May 18, inside Town Hall.
The event, organized by longtime Windermere resident Pam Martini, honors local service members and their families for their immense sacrifices.
The town recognized 10 active-service members from Windermere: Calvin C. Anderson, Allie Batten, Christopher Clark, Kathlyn Love, Charles W. Martini, Andrew McKinley, Christopher McKinley, Sarah Myers, B. Mason Plante and Ashley Paige Springer.
Mayor Jim O’Brien spoke at the event, as well as Chaplain Andy Jones, U.S. Rep. Daniel Webster, Town Council Member Tony Davit, Charles Martini, Bob McKinley, grandfather of Andrew and Christopher McKinley, and Gregg Anderson, father of Calvin Anderson.
The event included light bites and refreshments, a slideshow of pictures and videos from several of the service members, and notes on display written to those honored by Windermere Elementary School students. In addition, care packages were organized for the service members with handwritten cards from friends and family members.
