Pre-teen in custody in Ocoee shooting

Police responded to a call at 1006 Idaho Court, Ocoee, at around 7:50 a.m. Friday, May 17, and discovered a woman who had been shot. According to the Ocoee Police Department, an investigation revealed a relative of the victim, an 11-year-old who lived with her and is not being named because of age, was the shooter. The pre-teen is in custody, police said.

According to police, the victim, identified as 55-year-old Sandra Pape King, was taken to Advent Health Apopka, where she later died.

Police said there is no threat to the public and no other suspects are being sought. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
