Four of the older members from the Girl Scout Citrus Singers led the younger members in a rendition of “America the Beautiful.”
Locals flocked to Town Hall for the annual ceremony.
The town of Windermere hosted its annual Memorial Day observance event Monday, May 27, in front of Town Hall.
Residents sat in folding chairs underneath the canopy of Windermere’s trees for the ceremony held in honor of U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the armed forces.
Frank Krens, of the Rotary Club of Windermere, organized the event and thanked participants and guests for their attendance.
The ceremony included songs from the Girl Scout Citrus Singers led by musical director Susie Reale, an innovation from Chaplain Andy Jones of the Windermere Police Department, the presentation of colors and taps by the Windermere Lone Sailor Division Cadets, and special words from Mayor Jim O’Brien and Town Council Member Tony Davit.
