Winter Garden Wheel Works has been chosen as one of the top local bicycle retailers in the United States by the National Bicycle Dealers Association.

The business earned recently the 2024 Retailer Excellence Award from the NBDA, an honor which less than 50 other retailers have qualified for.

The local bicycle retailer is not only a store, but also has been a pillar of the downtown Winter Garden community for more than 15 years. By being given this award, the business has proven they exemplify this ideal.

The shop is a full-service bicycle retail store selling, serving and renting all types of bikes, with a wide range of accessories and equipment available for the whole family.

Dennis Jones, Winter Garden Wheel Works owner, said the business is honored to be chosen as one of the nation's top retailers.

"We didn’t do anything extra to win this award," he said. "We have always stayed true to our core values: enjoy the ride.”

Since 1946, the NBDA has been a nonprofit organization representing and empowering specialty bicycle dealers in North America through education, communications, research, advocacy, member discount programs and promotional opportunities.

Participants worked with the NBDA over a period of three months to meet current challenging industry conditions and turn them into opportunities for growth and excellence.

They developed communications, elevated key performance indicators, organized community events and gathered feedback from the community — all with a focus on achieving retail excellence.

The NBDA Retailer Excellence Award requires not only great shopping experiences and expert leadership, but also support for the local community and national cycling advocacy. Each retailer awarded fits these criteria and more.

“I am so inspired by our retailers who are doing the hard work of looking inward at the volume and quality of sales and come together with us and share ideas to help this amazing community of retailers that we have around the country,” Heather Mason, president of the NBDA, said.
