Pedestrian dies in Southwest Orange crash

The 31-year-old woman from Germany was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

A 31-year-old woman from Germany died after she was struck by a vehicle at about 6:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, on Universal Boulevard near Breakview Drive.

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, a 37-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale was driving a 2025 Mazda CX-50 southbound on Universal Boulevard approaching Breakview Drive. The pedestrian was standing on the west shoulder of Universal at the intersection.

According to reports, the vehicle ran off the roadway onto the west shoulder of Universal Boulevard, struck a tree, and then collided with the pedestrian and multiple traffic signal support posts. 

The driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries; the pedestrian was taken to the same hospital in critical condition but died.

The crash remains under investigation.
