The town of Windermere is hosting a Legacy Tree Give-A-Way as part of the town's Centennial Celebration.

The Legacy Tree Program is sponsored by the Windermere Tree Board and the town. The program celebrates 100 years of the town’s history and heritage.

The free trees given away will be large, typically at their maturity, and at least 24 inches in diameter at breast height and around 60 feet tall, with a crown spread of at least 50 feet. These trees are chosen for their size, beauty and longevity, serving as a lasting tribute to the town.

Each tree will be marked with a commemorative plaque to create the Centennial Tree Walk.

The original deadline for the legacy tree acquisition application has been extended through Dec. 10.
