Orange County shelters open Tuesday, Oct. 8

Ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival, Orange County will open its shelters tomorrow.

Ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival, Orange County will open its general population shelters by 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The locations are:

• Apopka High School: 555 Martin St., Apopka (pet-friendly shelter)

• Carver Middle School: 4500 W. Columbia St., Orlando (pet-friendly shelter)

• Colonial High School: 6100 Oleander Drive, Orlando (pet-friendly shelter)

• Lake Buena Vista High School: 11305 Daryl Carter Parkway, Orlando

• Lake Nona High School: 12500 Narcoossee Road, Orlando (pet-friendly shelter)

• Oak Ridge High School: 700 W. Oak Ridge Road, Orlando

• Ocoee High School: 1925 Ocoee Crown Point Parkway, Ocoee

• Odyssey Middle School: 9290 Lee Vista Blvd., Orlando (pet-friendly shelter)

• Timber Springs Middle School: 16001 Timber Park Lane, Orlando

• Union Park Middle School: 1844 Westfall Drive, Orlando (pet-friendly shelter)

• Wedgefield K-8: 3835 Bancroft Blvd., Orlando


These special-needs shelters will open by 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8:

• Goldenrod Rec.: 4863 N. Goldenrod Road, Winter Park

• Silver Star Rec.: 2801 N. Apopka-Vineland Road, Orlando

• South Econ Park: 3850 S. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando

Orange County residents requiring a PSN Shelter should dial 3-1-1 or 407-836-3111. LYNX will provide free service to shelter locations. For important information on what to bring to a shelter, visit ocfl.net/shelters.
