OCPS classes to resume Tuesday, Oct. 15

Officials made the decision to close Friday after previously calling for closures Wednesday and Thursday. Monday is a student holiday and teacher workday.

Orange County Public Schools earlier this week announced schools would be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 10. Due to the timing and projected path of Hurricane Milton, schools also will be closed Friday, Oct. 11.

District offices will reopen on Friday, and 12-month employees should be prepared to return to work at their regular time.

The return of 12-month employees on Friday will allow for more time to safely assess all schools and facilities after the storm has passed.

Schools will be closed Monday, Oct. 14, as well, as it already was designated a student holiday and teacher workday.
