Due to Hurricane Milton's impact on the West Orange and Southwest Orange area, all of the area's high school football games scheduled for Week Eight were postponed, canceled or remain in scheduling limbo.

FOOTBALL SCHEDULES: See schedule changes for area football games due to Hurricane Milton.

However, six of the area's teams have opted to play their Week Eight contest in the early portion of this week — five playing on Monday night while Olympia plays Tuesday.

Let's get started with the game of the week, the undefeated Windermere Wolverines host the 4-2 Oak Ridge Pioneers.

Game of the Week: Windermere (6-0) vs. Oak Ridge (4-2)

In its second on-campus home game, the Wolverines will try to extend its longest-ever winning streak against fellow Orange County independent, Oak Ridge High.

So far this season, Windermere has been lights out on both sides of the ball — averaging a little more than 37 points scored a game and holding its opponents to less than six points.

On offense, the Wolverines passing game has led the way. Senior quarterback Jack Reilly has thrown for 1,274 yards on 76-of-108 passing with 17 touchdown passes and just one interception. On defense, Windermere's stellar secondary is led by junior defensive back C.J. Bronaugh, a Power 4 recruit with offers from FSU, Arkansas, Baylor and others, who has snagged two pick-sixes in his four games.

Based on their four common opponents: Colonial, East River, Lake Buena Vista and University, Windermere should be favored in this one — given the two teams that beat Oak Ridge (LBV and East River) the Wolverines beat by a combined 76 points.

Week Eight

MONDAY, OCT. 14

5 p.m. kickoff

West Orange (5-1) at West Port (1-6)

After a disappointing loss to Evans High in a Week One makeup game Oct. 1, West Orange will look to bounce back as it travels to Ocala to face Class 7A, District 5 foe, the West Port Wolf Pack.

Look for do-it-all athlete Brian Dillard — who has gained 1,099 total yards, scored 11 total touchdowns and caught an interception — to be a factor in this game from almost any skill position in all three phases.

A win for the Warriors in this one keeps their district championship hopes alive and sets up a pseudo-title game against rival Ocoee High in Week 10.

5:30 p.m. kickoff

Foundation Academy (2-3) at Faith Christian (4-3)

After the hurricane prevented Foundation's game at Indian Rocks Christian from happening, the two sides decided to cancel the game and the Lions scheduled a new Week Eight opponent: Faith Christian Academy.

The Lions of Foundation will look to bounce back from a heartbreaking loss in Week Seven and try to slow down the balanced offense attack of the Faith Christian Lions, who are averaging 301.4 total yards per game.

6 p.m. kickoff

Central Florida Christian Academy (2-3) at Trinity Prep (0-6)

The CFCA Eagles will travel to Trinity Prep in the hopes of getting back to winning ways after falling to P.K. Yonge in Week Seven.

Look for athlete Mason Mathis to play a big role on offense from the QB spot, especially when he targets fellow sophomore Davy Murphy, who has caught 16 passes for 493 yards with five touchdowns this season.

Horizon (0-6) vs. South Lake (3-3)

Horizon finally comes home after a four-week road stint to host Class 6A, District 6 foe South Lake High. The Hawks hope to end their six-game losing streak and, as always, will lean on the run game and their opportunistic defense to do so against the Eagles.

TUESDAY,  OCT. 15

7 p.m. kickoff

Olympia (2-4) at Celebration (2-4)

In the lone Tuesday Night game, the Titans will travel to Celebration for their second Class 7A, District 9 game of the season. A win over the Storm will keep Olympia's district title hopes alive — given the caveat that Dr. Phillips High holds the tie-breaker after its Week Seven win over the Titans.
