Bears Who Care steps up with OktoBEARfest 5K Fun Run & Walk

Bears Who Care will host its seventh annual OktoBEARfest 5K Fun Run & Walk this weekend.

This year’s event will take place at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, starting at Orlando Health — Horizon West Hospital, 17000 Porter Road, Winter Garden.

This healthy, family-friendly event that is always a BEARRIFIC time! Either in person or virtually, walk or run for a worthwhile cause, Bears Who Care, which provides teddy bears and books to children in need throughout the community.  

After the 5K and Kid’s Run, enjoy a morning of fun activities, including live entertainment, interactive sponsor booths, games, a scavenger hunt and prize giveaways.

All 5K participants will receive an official OktoBEARfest finisher medal, T-shirt, goody bag, race bib and finisher’s certificate. Kids Run participants will get an official OktoBEARfest finisher medal, goody bag, race bib and finisher’s certificate.

This year’s event will be dedicated to Kari Kron Schmitz, the president and founder of the Bears Who Care, who lost her battle with cancer in January 2024. Read more about her legacy here.
