Boys & Girls Clubs branch to break ground

The community is invited to join in the celebratory groundbreaking for the local club Oct. 24.

A groundbreaking ceremony is planned for the Boys & Girls Clubs June Family Branch, and the community is invited to the milestone event.

The ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at 459 Ninth St., Winter Garden, the site of the future building.

Once completed, the club branch will offer needed services and activities for Winter Garden youth in kindergarten through 12th grade. The facility also will provide multi-use meeting space for the community.

Community Editor Amy Quesinberry Price was born at the old West Orange Memorial Hospital and raised in Winter Garden. Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble. She grew up reading The Winter Garden Times and knew in the eighth grade she wanted to write for her community newspaper. She has been part of the writing and editing team since 1990.
