City of Ocoee to host 22nd annual Veterans Day ceremony

The City of Ocoee will host its 22nd annual Veterans Day ceremony Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center.

Ocoee is hosting its 22nd annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center.

The event's keynote speaker is retired Marine Corps Maj. Barron Mills. He grew up as the son of a career Army officer and he himself served in the Marines for 20 years, spanning five continents and dozens of countries.

Along with Maj. Mills, Ocoee resident Sherri Gladney will sing the National Anthem at the event while the Ocoee Middle School Wind Ensemble will play a medley of songs. 

The Ocoee Police and Fire Departments' Honor Guards will present the colors and a wreath will be displayed at the city's Memorial Wall. Finally, an Ocoee High School band member will play "Taps."
