Countless heroes in World War II came from Florida. Thomas Tart has spent much of his life documenting their stories and learning more about these pivotal moments in American history. June 6 was the 80th anniversary of D-Day, and Tart was in Normandy to honor the brave soldiers who fought for freedom.

Tart will give a presentation at the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, 21 E. Plant St., at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19. There will be wine and refreshments.

Tart’s presentation was given to the Florida National Guard Headquarters last fall. Make plans to attend this presentation hosted by Tart, a fifth-generation Floridian, University of Florida letterman and Hall of Fame member, and former Orlando Utilities Commission vice president.
