Windermere High has re-scheduled the opening of its new on-campus stadium to its Sept. 27 football game against Lake Buena Vista High.

"I'm excited to report that overall construction of the project is nearly complete," said Windermere Principal Andrew Leftakis. "The last few inspections are taking place this week and we're extremely hopeful that we'll welcome our Wolverines home for our annual homecoming game on Friday, Sept. 27. I know we are eager to open this new era of Windermere athletics. I'm confident if we wait a little longer, we will be able to have full access to the facility, which is very exciting, especially to have opening night also be our homecoming game."

The original home opener and ribbon-cutting ceremony, scheduled for Sept. 13, was postponed due to not being issued the needed certificate of occupancy. This postponement led to the Wolverines' first home game to be played at Ocoee High School.

This week's home game for Windermere football, against East River High at 7 p.m. Sept. 20, will be played at West Orange High.

"We will play this week's varsity football game against East River High School up the street at West Orange High School," Leftakis said. "(West Orange) has been gracious enough to open their doors to us so we can keep the game on this side of town. As a reminder, this is considered our home game. So we need all the support possible to cheer our Wolverines to victory as we look to add to our undefeated season."
