Fourteen-year-old charged with bringing gun to Ocoee High School

No students were injured during the incident, and students remained in their classrooms while the investigation was conducted.

The Ocoee Police Department responded to a tip that a student may have brought a gun to Ocoee High School at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

According to a police report from the department, the student was located, and the backpack was searched. Items found in the backpack included the lower half of a handgun, an extended magazine and other contraband. 

Officer said, at the current time, the location of the remaining parts of the weapon is unknown. 

The suspect was identified as 14-year-old Tyree McNeal. Tyree was charged with carrying a concealed firearm inside an educational institution, and interrupting or disturbing a school function with a credible threat. 

The department confirmed no students were injured during the incident, and students remained in their classrooms while the investigation was conducted.

Orange County Public Schools media representatives said disciplinary measure will be handed out to the student according to the code of student conduct.
