FHP looking for suspect in Ocoee fatal hit-and-run crash

A 25-year-old male resident from Ocoee is dead following a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place Saturday, Sept. 21.

A 25-year-old male resident from the city of Ocoee is dead following a fatal hit-and-run crash that took place around 10:44 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, on Ocoee-Apopka Road and Demastus Lane. 

Florida Highway Patrol officers actively are working to locate the suspect of the crash, who fled the scene.

According to a press release from the FHP, a 2020 Toyota Tacoma was traveling southbound on Ocoee-Apopka Road, south of Demastus Lane, where the victim was laying down in the direct path of the vehicle.

The vehicle struck the victim and then fled the scene, and the victim was pronounced dead on-scene.

Witnesses of the incident provided a description of the vehicle to the Ocoee Police Department, who assisted and located a vehicle in the area matching the description and showcased consistent damage of the crash.

FHP troopers have towed the vehicle to a secure storage area for processing. 

This is an active criminal investigation.
