Dr. Kevin Klauer has been appointed president and CEO of Shepherd’s Hope, effective April 14, 2025.
Previously, Klauer served as the CEO of the American Health Information Management Association. He also served as system chief medical officer for HCA Florida Ocala and West Marion hospitals and previously as the CEO of the American Osteopathic Association.
Klauer also served as the chief medical officer — hospital-based services; enterprise chief risk officer; and executive director of the Patient Safety Organization for TeamHealth.
“Dr. Klauer possesses the leadership qualities we need at this pivotal time — extensive executive-level experience in healthcare, strong local professional connections, board leadership expertise and exceptional management skills that align seamlessly with this role,” said Bill Mullowney, board chair of Shepherd’s Hope and general counsel of Valencia College. “Most importantly, he has a deep and genuine commitment to serving those in need. We are all incredibly energized as we continue our mission of providing free, high-quality health care to uninsured individuals, ensuring that our neighbors receive the care they deserve.”
Klauer also is an assistant clinical professor at the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine; assistant clinical professor at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine; and assistant clinical professor at the Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine.
He received his doctoral degree of osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency training in emergency medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center, Charity Hospital New Orleans, where he served as chief resident. Klauer earned his executive JD, with honors, from Purdue Global Law School in 2011.
At Shepherd’s Hope, Klauer will lead the financial stability of Shepherd’s Hope, oversee clinical and operational responsibilities and assist in continuing to secure funding from various streams to ensure the growth of Shepherd’s Hope as it enters its 30th year in 2027.

Shepherd’s Hope provides free, quality health care for uninsured children, women and men in Central Florida. At its four clinics in Central Florida, Shepherd’s Hope served more than 8,000 patients in 2024.
