Windermere Preparatory School’s upcoming production of “Mamma Mia!” represents a first for the school.
The spring production will feature a set designed by senior Zara Lwin. Lwin has won Best in Show on the district and state levels for her set designs during her high school career. This is the first time a student has designed the set at Windermere Prep.
Performances will take place April 10-12 at the Cypress Center for the Arts, 6189 Winter Garden-Vineland Road, Windermere. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11; and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12.
In addition to the student-designed set, Windermere Prep’s “Mamma Mia!” also will feature some costume pieces from the original Broadway production.
“Head of School Dr. (Mitchell) Salerno is friends with Ron Glow (original head of wardrobe on the Broadway production of 'Mamma Mia!' for 14 years," Director of Fine Arts Rosemarie Redman said. "(Glow) has sent our three female leads the belt buckles to the costumes for our students to wear in the show's finale."
