A substance found on the surface of Lake Down has been determined as seasonal pollen.

After the town of Windermere received several inquiries regarding a substance on the surface of Lake Down, the town investigated.

The town's lake consultant conducted an on-site visit, and Orange County's Environmental Protection Division conducted an inspection, resulting in the town confirming the substance was pollen, according to a Facebook post from the town of Windermere.

"This is a natural occurrence, and Orange County EPD provides no treatment for pollen on the lake," according to the post. "While it may resemble an algal bloom or other environmental concern, rest assured that it is harmless and part of seasonal changes in our area."
