Registration open for Citizens Police Academy

The free course for Winter Garden residents starts March 5.

Sign-ups are taking place now for the next Winter Garden Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy. During this free, nine-week course, police officers and staff host weekly discussions on topics such as crime prevention, investigations and police procedures.

Class participants will also be eligible to go on a ride-along with an officer.

Curious about what goes on inside your police department? Get your questions answered at the next Citizens Police Academy class, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. March 5 through April 30. Classes take place at the WGPD training room, 251 W. Plant St.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, living or working in the city of Winter Garden, with no criminal record.
