West Orange High baseball went on the road to Windermere High and handed the Wolverines a 2-1 loss, their first loss of the early season.
This pitchers' duel between two of the area's top arms — Warriors (3-1) senior Sims McClusky and Windermere (4-1) sophomore Joey Waddingham — was a measuring stick game for two mainstay programs.
After striking first in the bottom of the first, the Wolverines' one-run lead was short-lived as West Orange responded with a run of its own in the top of the second.
For the next two and one-half innings, the two stud pitchers shut down the opposing bats, not allowing a run in that span. It wasn't until the top of the fifth that West Orange was able to score the last run of the game and clinch the road win.
