WGHF hosting “House Calls to Hospitals” exhibition reception

The new history museum display features decades of personal care in West Orange County.

The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation is hosting a special evening as staff unveils its latest exhibition, “House Calls to Hospitals: Caring for West Orange County.” Presented by Orlando Health, the event takes place at Heller Hall, 21 E. Plant St., Winter Garden.

See how health care has evolved in the area over the years, starting with doctor’s visits via horse and buggy, and learn about small-town doctors and cutting-edge hospitals. Take a walk through medical history with photographs, physicians’ equipment and more.

The grand opening reception is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26. For information, call (407) 656-3244.

Community Editor Amy Quesinberry Price was born at the old West Orange Memorial Hospital and raised in Winter Garden. Aside from earning her journalism degree from the University of Georgia, she hasn’t strayed too far from her hometown and her three-mile bubble.
