Saxophonist Caleb Wolf named division finalist in woodwind competition

Winners will be announced mid-January and advance to the national finals.

Caleb Wolf, a saxophonist and graduate of Dr. Phillips High School, is a division finalist in the MTNA Senior Woodwinds Southern Division.

The son of Scott and Cara Wolf earned this opportunity after winning the Florida State Senior Woodwind Competition hosted at The University of Miami. A freshman at Florida State University, Wolf has been studying saxophone for eight years and currently is a student of Dr. Geoffery Deibel.

A dedicated classical saxophonist and music education major at FSU, Wolf has cultivated a rich musical journey from his high school years at DPHS. He is a member of the World Renown Florida State Marching Chiefs Band and is a peer advisor in the College of Music, where he continues to excel in both performance and leadership.

He garnered numerous accolades during his high school musical career. He was selected to the 2023 Tri-State Symphonic Band, participated in the Florida All-State Band for three years and was a member every year of middle and high school All-Orange County concert, symphonic and jazz bands.

The winner of the division competition will compete in the national finals. Division winners will be announced in mid-January.

The three-tiered MTNA competitions begin at the state level. Winners of each state competition advance to the division level. Division winners then proceed to the national finals.

Music Teachers National Association is a nonprofit organization comprised of 17,000 independent and collegiate music teachers committed to advancing the value of music study and music making to society and to supporting the professionalism of music teachers.
