Orlando Health — Health Central Park unveiled a new, improved facility.
A large portion of the 218-bed nursing and rehabilitation center in Winter Garden was torn down and rebuilt into a nearly 65,000 square-foot-addition.
The building initially was constructed in 1967, and crews began working on the major upgrade and enhancement project in 2022.
The addition features private patient rooms, larger and improved therapy spaces and peaceful courtyards.
“We’re excited that our patients and residents will be moving into this modernized space,” said Greg Ohe, the Orlando Health senior vice president of ambulatory services in a news release. “Providing high quality long-term care, memory care and rehabilitation services to our geriatric population is important to this community.”
Now that construction is complete, the facility will open 70 new private rooms for rehabilitation patients. Ten of the rooms are equipped to care for high acuity patients.
The enlarged rehabilitation area features new state-of-the-art equipment.
An occupational therapy area will be available for patients to use to simulate functions of daily living, including using the kitchen and doing laundry.
Memory care residents have access to 36 new private rooms and two semi-private rooms designed for couples or family members staying together. The unit features a courtyard, fine dining, pet and music therapy, and entertainment.
Orlando Health worked with the Foundation for a Healthier West Orange to place a Healthy West Orange HUBB inside the new lobby. The HUBB is a free, easy-to-use online platform and physical resource center highlighting organizations in the West Orange community that are meeting critical needs while also helping make residents' lives easier and more fulfilling, according to the release.
“We are delighted to expand our HUBB Direct locations in partnership with Orlando Health - Health Central Park," said Tracy Swanson, CEO of the Foundation for a Healthier West Orange in a news release. "This collaboration strengthens the link between residents and a wide range of health and wellness services in our community.”
