First up is the Arbor Day Tree Planting, which will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Windermere Recreation Center, 11465 Park Ave., Windermere. The town’s Windermere Garden Club and Windermere Public Works Department will plant trees at the center to celebrate its Centennial and Arbor Day.

Then, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, the town will host its annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway. Town residents are invited to come pick up a tree in the parking lot at Fifth Avenue and Forest Street. Residents must bring proof of residency. This event is sponsored by the Windermere Tree Board.
