Oakland’s Public Works Department has been changing out the town’s street signs, which means the old ones are coming down. The town will have many of the used street signs available for purchase in the silent auction during the Oakland Heritage Day.

The silent auction runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Speer Park. Proceeds benefit the Oakland Nature Preserve.

There are several copies of some of the signs, so the top bidders for each street will receive signs.

The street names available are Arrington, Briley, Brock, Cross, Daniels, Demens, Edgegrove, Gulley, Henschen, Macchi, Mather Smith, Muscogee Creek, Oakland, Oakland Pointe, Petris, Pollard, Postell, Sadler, Speer, Standing Rock, Starr, Tubb, Vandermeer, Vick, Walker, Winters and Winters Landing.
