Scouts pack meals for needy

Troop 210, in Winter Garden, was among more than 4,000 volunteers who packed more than one million boxes.

Albert Barron, new scoutmaster of Scout Troop 210, gave members of his troop an opportunity serve the community and uphold the core values of scouting, which include a strong emphasis on community service.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, seven scouts joined more than 4,000 volunteers at the Orange County Convention Center to pack more than one million meals for those in need, both in Central Florida and those impacted by the California wildfires.

U.S. Hunger, a national relief organization dedicated to ending hunger in America, organized this event. Its mission aligns perfectly with the core values of the Boy Scouts of America, which emphasizes citizenship, service and personal growth.
