As the city of Ocoee's centennial celebrations begin, residents are invited to attend the reveal and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the commemorative mural commissioned by the city at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in downtown Ocoee. Refreshments will be provided by downtown Ocoee businesses.

The celebration for the city's first mural will feature a meet-and-greet with the artist Christian Stanley; a Central Florida-based artist who has lived in the Orlando area since graduating from UCF in 2011 with a degree in graphic design. The mural covers the wall of the historic Marshall Block building, which dates back to the 1920s.

Approximately 1,200 square feet, the celebratory mural highlights the city’s agricultural roots, the historic Withers-Maguire House, Starke Lake and other key elements that reflect the city’s heritage and natural beauty.

Those planning on attending should park in the lot on the corner of McKey Street and Kissimmee Avenue, the event will take place at 116 W. McKey St.
