Scouting America Troop 225 reached an extraordinary milestone in 2024: the troop had 10 boys who earned the rank of Eagle Scout. This remarkable achievement highlights the troop's commitment to developing young leaders who embody the values of service, responsibility, and citizenship.
The 2024 Eagle Scouts are:
• Billy Schweisguth obtained his Eagle in March and made an armed service members presentation to the Windermere Post Office. He attends Orlando Science High School.
• Jake Carsten earned his Eagle rank in March and created a retirement receptacle for old American flags for the town of Windermere. He attends Olympia High School.
• Alexander Scott, a student at West Orange High School, created AED and first-aid stations for Camp Ithiel in March.
• Dylan Wenrich built band lockers for Horizon Middle. The West Orange High student earned his Eagle rank in April.
• Nathan Johnson, who earned his Eagle rank in May, revitalized the basketball court at Camp Ithiel. He attends West Orange High.
• Ethan Bundy made improvements to Tucker Ranch for the city of Winter Garden in June. He attends Orlando Science High.
• Bradley Grieder, of West Orange High, created Project Guitar Here for his Eagle project in September.
• Cory Balasia refurbished the children’s area at Bill Frederick Park in October. He is homeschooled.
• Silas Lung, of West Orange High, added pavers at Trailblazers Hall at Camp Ithiel in December for his Eagle project.
• Albert Intenzo IV built chicken coops at West Orange High School, where he attends, in December.
Each of these scouts has completed the rigorous requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, including earning at least 21 merit badges and leading a significant community service project. These projects ranged from environmental conservation efforts to enhancing local community facilities, showcasing the diverse talents and dedication of these young leaders.
Cumulative service hours for these 10 Eagle projects was 1,452, given to various project beneficiaries throughout West Orange County.
Founded in 1985, Troop 225 has a rich history of fostering character development and outdoor skills in the West Orange community. In close to 40 years, the troop has consistently upheld the principles of scouting, awarding the rank of Eagle Scouts to more than 190 boys since its inception.
Scoutmaster Rick Lung reflected on the achievement:
“It’s an honor to know each of these Eagle Scouts. 2024 was a great year for our troop, where many of our scouts made it to the rank of Eagle. Each of these scouts conquered unique challenges while completing their community service projects. Every one of them learned an assortment of life lessons along the way. That journey helps build character in our future leaders. Our troop is very proud of their achievements and grateful for the support of their families and the scouting community.”
Troop 225 continues to be part of a vibrant scouting community in Central Florida, offering youth opportunities to grow into responsible citizens and future leaders.
Troop 225 is chartered by Camp Ithiel.
