There will be two chances to catch the Philippe Lemm Trio in Winter Garden this weekend.
The New York-based trio will play from 8 to 11 p.m. Friday, March 21, and Saturday, March 22, at Pilars, 146 W. Plant St., Suite 120, Winter Garden.
Featuring Lemm on drums, Sharik Hasan on piano and Jeff Koch on bass, the trio won the International B-Jazz Competition. The group met in New York in 2011, and after one session together, realized that their undeniable chemistry was one that needed to be taken and shared with the world.
The group's repertoire draws heavily from re-imaginations of jazz standards in a way that both defies genre and corresponds to any modern jazz fan. The group uses their trust and understanding of one another's musical tendencies to create passionate musical soundscapes, which range from traditional jazz to the progressive rock/classical-influenced music.
The trio’s TV appearance on the show Vrije Geluiden led to sold out concerts throughout The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany on the first half of their European CD release tour.
The trio has performed on stages such as North Sea Jazz Festival (The Netherlands), the Blue Note (New York), The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington, D.C.), Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club (London), Pori Jazz Festival (Finland) and The Concertgebouw (Amsterdam)
