Luke Carey scored a game-high eight goals to lead the Olympia Titans boys water polo team to a 15-12 victory against Dr. Phillips at the YMCA Aquatic Center April 3.
The win earned Olympia its first Metro Conference: West title in boys water polo.
Danny Cruz added three goals for the Titans, while Alec Johnson stuffed the stat sheet with two goals, six steals and five drawn kick-out. Ryan Hopegill had four saves, three steals and two assists from goal.
Dr. Phillips was led by Max Meisenheimer's three goals and two assists. Dan Magrino assisted on three goals during the match, bringing him to 73 assists on the season — a new program record for Dr. Phillips.
For Olympia head coach Stephanie Johnson-Possell, the victory is a milestone for a youthful roster that is putting together an impressive 2018 campaign.
"They're still young and they're doing really well — I'm very, very happy with how they're progressing," Johnson-Possell said. "They are really fun to coach."
